Hampton Court Palace and nearby land was given to King Henry VIII by Cardinal Wolsey in 1529 when Henry wanted to divorce Catherine of Aragon to marry Anne Boleyn. He enlarged the palace and made it his principle home and was the main royal residence for the next 230 years until King George II died there in 1760.
Visit Hampton Court Palace on our Hampton Court Palace River Ride , offered Mondays and Thursday March-October or request a day of choice.
Or request a circular Hampton Court Palace Ride or a reverse ride from the palace to Richmond Upon Thames after your visit.
Hampton Court saw wives Anne Boleyn and Catherine Howard both fall from grace, the birth of the future Edward VI and the death of his mother Jane Seymour a few days later.
Henry VIII built the real tennis court, who played there regularly, this is a very different game from the tennis we know now. Get lost King William IV’s maze or try to see the ghost of Catherine Howard on your visit after a bike tour.
We can help you with accommodation before or after the rides.
